Introduction

Volleyball PEI (VPEI) is proud of the quality of the Athletes produced in the province. Prince Edward Island has a strong history of developing top volleyball players. Many of our athletes have gone on to long and rewarding University and College careers, with some continuing on to play professionally on both the beach and indoor leagues.

This is due in large to the quality of coaching, the high level of competition played at, and the elite experiences that our athletes receive. VPEI tries to contribute to the continued development of our Elite athletes by running Provincial Teams for various age groups. The goal of the program is to provide our top athletes with a high level development opportunity. They receive coaching from some of PEI's best coaches, play with and against the best athletes from across PEI & Canada in their respective age category, have the opportunity to represent their province on Team PEI, build lifelong friendships, and life skills that will benefit them in the future.

With competitions like Canada Summer Games, National Team Challenge Cup, and Eastern Elites, athletes have the opportunity to participate in some of Canada's top volleyball and multi-sporting events. These competitions take place over Canada allowing athletes to travel and experience the culture and sites of many different places across the country.

Goals and Objectives of the Provincial Team Program

i) identify athletes with the potential to compete and continue to compete in elite level volleyball.
ii) promote continued involvement with future Provincial Team programs.
iii) promote long term involvement towards the possibility of Canada Games, College, University, Junior National Team, Senior National Team.
iv) programs will endeavor to provide opportunity for athletes in all areas of the province.
v) development of a Provincial Team Staff, allowing coaches to interact and increase their knowledge while working with other elite coaches and athletes.
vi) the performance objective, although secondary to development, is still viewed as an important component of the program. The performance objective for the team should still be one of the best possible results at inter-provincial competitions

Coaches

VPEI would like to ask you for your assistance to help us provide the best program possible. We encourage all age class coaches to become actively involved in the program, either through applying to coach or by helping us to identify potential athletes for the program. We hope you will encourage your athletes to take part in ID camps and that you will talk to our coaching staff or office staff in regard to any athletes you feel we should take a look at. We welcome your input and hope you feel free to talk to us at anytime, we want to hear from you.

Over volleyball season the provincial team coaching staff will be out scouting and evaluating potential provincial team athletes. We hope you will provide them with any support they require. Your continued development of Volleyball PEI's athletes and support of our Provincial Team program will go a long way towards ensuring VPEI's reputation of developing quality Volleyball Players.

Eastern Elite Program

Philosophy of the Program

The Eastern Elite Boys and Girls Provincial Teams have been designed to maximize the development of potential elite level volleyball players throughout the province. The program guidelines have been set out to meet two primary objectives:
i) Identification and development of athletes;
ii) Successful team performance at inter-provincial competitions.

- Each player must adhere to the team training schedule.
- Complete an evaluation at the end of the season.
- Must take part in fundraising initiatives (Mandatory).
- Return uniform and any other equipment borrowed.
