Lobster Carnival Beach Winners

The first Summerside Lobster Carnival Beach Volleyball tournament was held on Saturday at the Canada Games beach courts located next to Credit Union Place.  Fifteen teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward took part in a full day event.  

In the Senior Women’s Division, Summerside native Cherie Campbell and Carys Storey took the title with two straight sets over the young Nova Scotia pairing of Hilary Monette and Meghan MacDougall with scores of 21-19 and 21-16.   Campbell and Storey had gone 5-0 for the day and advanced to the finals with close semi win over fellow New Brunswick team of Luba Andrushchenko and Louise Berube 29-17 and 24-22.   Monette and MacDougall advanced over Islanders Rebecca Gill and Lynn Boudreau with a 2-1 win.  Gill and Boudreau won the first 22-20, lost the second 21-17 and ran out of steam in the third with a 15-8 lose.

The 18U women’s division was won by the Island team of Sydney Foy and Kelly Campbell from Cornwall, who could have played in the 16U division. They went through round robin with a 3-1 record with only the top two teams advancing to the finals.   Foy/Campbell defeated the one team they had lost during the day, Jannine Bressmer and Dannielle Lapierre of Nova Scotia with scores of 21-16 and 21-18.

The 16U division was an all Nova Scotia final with Hiscock and MacKinnon going undefeated for the day and winning with scores of 21-8 and 21-15 over Wolfe and Munro.

Volleyball PEI was pleased to run this event and look forward to the Cavendish Beach Tournament being held next week at the National Beach

Wednesday Night  Senior & Youth Women’s & Men’s Double League  @ CUP in Summerside

The league will begin on June 23 and run every Wednesday night from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm or until pool play is complete.  There will be a senior division, 18U and 15U divisions.

Volleyball PEI Players cost will be $45 per player for the summer, non Volleyball PEI members will be $60.

Play will continue to August 18 with league finals held on that night of play and prizes.

City of Summerside with Volleyball PEI Present their first Beach Volleyball Camp

In addition Volleyball PEI will host a senior women’s doubles beach league beginning at UPEI and finishing at the new Cornwall Beach volleyball courts.  Play will begin the week of June 21 running on Tuesday nights.

The league will begin on June 22 and run every Tuesday night from 6pm to 8pm or until pool play is complete.

Volleyball PEI Players cost will be $45 per player for the summer, non Volleyball PEI members will be $60.

Come play on one of the most beautiful beaches in Canada. The Cavendish area is proud to host the 2010 Cavendish Beach Volleyball Tournament on July 24, 2010

Tournament Registration 9:00 am play begins at 9:30 am

Doubles - $60/team
Quads - $100/team
Youth Doubles $50/team

Volleyball PEI Summerside Beach Leagues

Location: Summerside Wellness Centre Courts

Registration: Registration is on a first come first serve basis. We have limited space in each league due to court space. You can register your team lboudreau@upei.ca

Your team will be registered when all required information is obtained and FULL payment of team fee is received by Volleyball PEI.

League Details:

Coed 4's - B at least 2 females and 1 male on the court at all times with a maximum of 5 players per team

Women's/Men's 2's - Maximum of 3 players per team

Schedule:

Fees Include:

• Outdoor league shirt
• Awards Night
• Use of beach courts
• All administration including schedules, results, media, rules, etc.
• Access to league website

Rainouts will not be announced or posted until 4pm

Volleyball PEI Youth Beach- Training League

Who: 13U - 18U male and female

What: Youth Beach League

Where: Summerside Beach Courts

When: Summer of 2010

Cost: $30 per session (Members) $45 (Non-Members)

If you would like to participate on both Monday & Wednesday weekly, you will have to register for both sessions BUT you will receive a discount for registering in 2 sessions. e.g. Members: $55 Session 1&2 ' 2x per week or $70 for non members

Registration Deadline: Sunday 12 noon - 2 Weeks Prior to the start of Session.

Structure: Each practice will have 30 minutes of coaching and instruction & 60 minutes of game play with instruction
